Es real, sin mentira, cierto y muy verdadero. Lo que que está abajo es como lo que está arriba, y lo que está arriba es como lo que está abajo, para hacer los milagros de una sola cosa. Y así como todas las cosas han salido de una cosa por el pensamiento de uno, así mismo todas las cosas han nacido de esta cosa por adaptación. Su padre es el Sol, su madre es la Luna, el viento lo ha llevado en su vientre; la tierra es su nodriza. Ahí está el padre de todo el Universo. Su potencia sobre la tierra no tiene límites. Separarás la tierra del fuego, lo sutil de lo espeso, suavemente, con gran industria. El que sube la tierra al cielo y en seguida vuelve a bajar sobre la tierra, y recoge la fuerza de las cosas superiores e inferiores. Así tendrás toda la gloria del mundo, por eso toda la oscuridad se alejará de tí. Es la fuerza fuerte de toda fuerza, porque vencerá toda cosa sutil y penetrará toda cosa sólida. Así es como fué creado el mundo. He ahí la fuente de admirables adaptaciones, aquí indicada. Por eso he sido llamado Hermes Trismegisto, que posee las tres partes de la Filosofía Universal. Lo que he dicho de la operación del sol es completo. One translation by Isaac Newton, found among his alchemical papers: Tis true without lying, certain & most true. That which is below is like that which is above & that which is above is like that which is below to do the miracles of one only thing. And as all things have been & arose from one by the meditation of one: so all things have their birth from this one thing by adaptation. The Sun is its father, the moon its mother. The wind hath carried it in its belly, the earth its nurse. The father of all perfection in the whole world is here. Its force or power is entire if it be converted into earth. Separate thou the earth from the fire, the subtle from the gross sweetly with great industry. It ascends from the earth to the heaven & again it desends to the earth and receives the force of things superior & inferior. By this means you shall have the glory of the whole world & thereby all obscurity shall fly from you. Its force is above all force, for it vanquishes every subtle thing & penetrates every solid thing. So was the world created. From this are & do come admirable adaptations where of the means (or process) is here in this. Hence I am called Hermes Trismegist, having the three parts of the philosophy of the whole world.
